Climate Justice Committee to Rally at Klobuchar’s Office, Demand Strong Stand on BWCA Protections
Rally:
Where: 701 4th Ave S, Minneapolis MN
When: Monday, March 23, 2026
MINNEAPOLIS, MN — The Climate Justice Committee (CJC) will rally outside of Senator Amy Klobuchar’s Office Monday evening to demand that she take a strong stand to protect public lands and fight back against attempts to overturn the Boundary Water (BWCA) mining ban and what amounts to an amendment of the Wilderness Act to allow the building of roads and detention centers for ICE in wilderness areas on US borders.
Tracy Molm said, “Representative Pete Stauber and his allies in the Trump administration are the main villains in their attempts to reverse a twenty year mining ban near the Boundary Waters. Senator Klobuchar should not allow a strategy of running to the middle in the governor's race to stop her from standing up for what is right for Minnesota’s long term future. She needs oppose copper acid mining and fight to keep the Boundary Waters the pristine wilderness that it is. This is the only way that we can ensure clean and healthy future for the next generation.
She continued, “Copper sulfide mining is neither safe nor clean, and this mine won't bring lasting economic opportunities to the arrowhead. Amy Klobuchar has a responsibility to stand up for the BWCA;; strongly, clearly and publicly.”
The Climate Justice Committee will on Monday March 23rd at 5 pm at 701 4th Ave S, Minneapolis MN as part of our ongoing campaign to demand congress defend our public lands from toxic polluters and keep ICE out of the BWCA!
